About Us
There could hardly be a more appropriate name for a restaurant in Bath but it hasn’t just been cooked up for the city of the hot springs. Foodies have known about the always-buzzing Aqua Restaurant and Bar in Bristol since it opened nearly 10 years ago.
Open all day, you can drop in any time for a coffee or a bite but at lunchtime and evening the absolute best of new Italian cuisine is on the menu. With an authentic, continental feel, the distinction between mealtimes is much less obvious and people tend to just relax and enjoy the company, food and atmosphere.
The new Aqua is in a quirky Walcot Street building in Bath’s artisan quarter. This former church house – near Walcot Reclamation – is considered to be one of Bath’s finest Arts and Crafts movement buildings, with a large and theatrical main dining area, gallery, courtyard and other smaller, more private dining areas.
Head chef Carlo Abbasciano is from Puglia where the locals are fanatical about food and he promises “a celebration of fresh, natural ingredients, a range of Mediterranean influences and sheer enjoyment. My menus are heavily influenced by southern Italian cuisine but people should be prepared for some surprises, because there is much more to cucina Pugliese than pasta and pizza.”
The restaurant manager – known by all as Mimmo – has been in the restaurant trade all his life, in Italy, Spain and England, and is looking forward to impressing Bath’s discerning foodies.
